It's also the day to introduce our newest housemate: Onyx, a.k.a. The Boarder. Wendy's good friend Ann had taken him in temporarily, so Iain drove to her place on Monday evening and picked him up. He was very good on the trip to Renfrew, only meowing until Arnprior and then settling down.
His current quarters are in our living room, as we try to gently accustom him to our other kitties. This may take a while. Meanwhile, he is curious about the new sights and smells.
He stretched out on the hardwood and claimed the property as his own almost immediately.
The couch seemed to be the best spot to have a lie-down-clean-up moment after supper.
By Tuesday morning, he was already surveying the front lawn and longing to chase down our resident black squirrel. This is his favourite pose, at the moment. (As Wendy would say, "Feel free to click for a Bigger Boarder.")
He's a lovely boy, and we are so glad to be able to give him a home.

It is a very good post - I love the last picture, Deb!
Thanks - hoping all the companion animals settle into domestic tranquility!
The Boarder was always one of my favorite topics on Wendy's blog. Thank you so much for giving him a new loving home.
Deb-I am so glad you have him.
I have a cat that I recently adopted from a shelter here-he could be Boarder's brother.
Thank goodness for people and friends like you-but then, I knew Wendy would have wonderful people in her life.
Thanks everyone for your kind comments! The Boarder is exploring the house today, and so far no big blowups (fingers crossed!), so things are progressing nicely!
Thank you so much for allowing yourself to be adopted by the Boarder. I'm sure Wendy would be very pleased with his choice!
Thank you for taking care of The Boarder :)
Your story brings a smile for a change as I and many others work to move past the loss of Wendy.
He's a lucky kitty!
I'll miss the weekly visits with Onyx, but I'm glad he's found a new happy home.
Thanks for this, it brought a smile to my face knowing the boarder has a good home..I miss Wendy soo!
Deb, I can only repeat what has already been voiced. Wendy and I exchanged Boarder and B Boy (my boarder) stories weekly. So happy he is in a loving home!
I'm so glad the little man has a new and happy home.
